The first CHiP unit is planned to be ready to generate power in mid 2010 and will be in Beckton, East London, the predicted energy potential of the Beckton plant is 19.5MWe, sufficient to meet the electricity needs of 50,000 homes, with plenty left over. The second plant has a similar planned output and will be based in Southall, on the western fringes of London, and is planned for late 2010.
