How do Blue-NG do it?
Blue-NG’s farmers grow oilseed rape from which we obtain the oil to fuel our Energy Centres.

The raw vegetable oil (or liquid biomass as it is known in the industry) used in our Energy Centres comes from rapeseed oil (those familiar yellow fields in early summer) grown by farmers as close as possible to our Energy Centres. This policy supports the existing food chain in several ways:
- Oilseed rape is an important part of the farmers’ traditional crop rotation, it is a so-called ‘break crop’ in the annual cycle between cereals.
- This helps to reduce the build up of diseases in cereals.
- Much of the plant is ploughed back into the soil to replenish it for next year’s cereal crop.
- This in turn reduces the need for artificial nitrogen based fertilizers which reduces the carbon footprint from field to fuel use.
Blue-NG is proud to be supporting UK farmers, using sustainable crops to fight climate change.
