Blue-NG’s achieves CHiP Renewable status from Ofgem

The energy regulator Ofgem has given Blue-NG’s new model of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) renewable status. It means that the company’s CHiP plants, will qualify for financial support under the Renewables Obligation. In regulatory jargon, Blue-NG has been awarded “preliminary accreditation” for its first plant at Beckton in East London, meaning the government is satisfied that it can be classified as renewable generation. This follows a decision by Ofgem in October 2008, which gave the company consent to have access to the National Grid owned pipeline infrastructure. >>>

OFGEM licence consent to National Grid means go-ahead for Blue-NG

The UK energy regulator OFGEM has given National Grid consent under its gas transporter licence, which will allow renewable energy company Blue-NG to develop new Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plants at eight of its gas network sites.

Blue-NG will use a new ultra-efficient CHP model fuelled by bioliquid to generate green electricity at pressure reduction station sites owned by National Grid. The ChiP (Combined Heat and intelligent Power) plant is the first of its kind in the world and is already attracting global interest. >>>

Planners have given the green light for a green energy generator in East London. The renewable energy company Blue-NG will use a new form of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant fuelled by sustainably grown energy crops. The first plant will be installed at Beckton in the Borough of Newham, with construction expected to start later this year and electricity being generated from late 2010. There are plans for 7 more pilot sites in the first phase, although the technology has the potential to be used worldwide. >>>
